Ask Lianne
July 11, 2004 Dear Lianne, Here are some suggestions in no particular order: - Do a shoot of a relatively well-known model, and use those pictures to promote yourself as a photographer. (Pay her if she doesn't do TFP's - many will do it for $100 per hour, and if she's good, you'll only need one hour.) Create a website showcasing your best work (or hire someone to do it). Then, email other models in your area (or other places where you are willing to travel), ask them to do a TFP and provide a link to your online gallery. (New models are more willing to do TFP's than experienced ones, unless you have a massive portfolio and/or a popular website that they want to appear on.) - Email webmasters from related sites that you admire, and ask if you can do a link exchange. (It's more likely they will do it if your site is nicely designed.) - Visit photography or import industry forums where you can post your favorite photos and website link. - Make a flyer advertising your website and give it to girls at car shows, clubs, parties, and other public events. Archive: If you would like to submit your question for Lianne to answer, fill out the form below and stay tuned for future updates to see if your question was selected. Lianne grew up near Berkeley, California and went from a quiet and shy girl to a woman who is now a professional model, actress, photographer, artist, and hairstylist.
