Ask Lianne
December 23, 2005 Hi I'm doing a photo shoot in one week and I have practiced in the mirror for facial expressions but I still can't get a good one. I have a longer nose and my smile isn't great because my teeth are a bit uneven. Please help, I would like to have nice facial expressions for my pictures. Thanks. It's great that you are practicing your facial expressions, this is a very important step before doing your first shoot. Well, photos can be taken from all different angles. Look in the mirror to see which angle is most flattering for your face and when you're at the shoot, pay attention to what angle the camera is capturing. Typically, over a hundred photos will be taken at a modeling shoot. With each shot, change your pose or expression slightly, with your face at different angles to the camera. This will ensure that you won't end up with tons of photos that could all potentially have the same unflattering expression or angle. Your teeth may be a little uneven but don't let that make you self conscious during the shoot-- do different smiles with your lips together or parted, and if your teeth are distracting, they can be easily fixed afterward with photoshop. If you don't know how to do it, just ask around; there are many people out there who can help you out.
