How would your friends describe your comedy?
They would call it Observational and Animated and a bit shocking at times.

How did you get into comedy?
It’s just something I always wanted to try, but kept putting it off...even when I was in college. Then one day, I went to an open mic...got on stage...and didn’t do too great. But I liked it. LOL. Then I took a comedy class in NYC. I learned how to write, stage manners, the nature of the comedy business, etc. They had a huge showcase at the end. I had an awesome set and just kept doing shows afterwards. You learn more and more as you go up.

Have you ever gotten a negative reaction to your jokes?
Oh YEAH! Some people don’t know that when they come to a comedy club...its just jokes. Some people take things way too seriously! I had one lady walk out on my set for something I said...but the rest of the crowd stayed and laughed and had a great time. If the whole crowd left...yeah then that would be a problem. hehehe

Air TabigueHow did your parents react when you told them you wanted to pursue comedy?
OMG I didn’t tell them at first. Too scared. My dad found out I was doing comedy...by GOOGLING our last name!! He wanted to find one of his relatives and saw a site on me. He called me and was like...”Hey you know there’s a comedian named AIR TABIGUE... but he’s better looking than you” hahaha He then asked me what’s up? I told him the truth. He was skeptical at first, but then he came to my show and I saw him look around and watched the crowd reaction and he was impressed.

When did you realize you made it in the comedy world?
I think the first time someone actually noticed me. I returned a rental car and the guy was like “hey, aren’t you that comedian guy Air Tabigooey”...hahaha close enough.

What’s the biggest struggle you’ve experience?
I think just trying to fit in when I was in grade school. I was the only Asian in my school. But I learned to fit in and make friends.

Do you speak any languages?
Taglish (English/Tagalog...mixed). I can count to 10 in French though

What’s your one guilty pleasure?
REALITY SHOWS!...Especially the ones on VH1 and MTV. I’m like this is so dumb...and I find myself tivo-ing them, rushing home to watch them, watch the same exact again episode right after...hahaha...Yeah I don’t know what’s wrong with me.. LOL

What’s your favorite Filipino dish? Least favorite dish?
My favorite dish is Crispy Pata (deep fried pigs knuckles/legs)...great now I want it! My least is Dinuguan (blood stew)...I don’t really like stew.

What do you do on your spare time when you’re not working on your comedy?
I spend time with my family.

How many members are in the Wu-Tang Clan? If you were one of the missing members what would your rap name be?
Nine...right? MY rap name would be Kris P. Pata!

What does being Asian Pacific American mean to you?
It means a lot! It’s who I am! I love my Filipino culture! But I think every one should be proud of who they are! Don’t try to be something or somebody your not.

Air TabigueDo you believe Asian Pacific Americans are treated equally in the comedy world?
Some are. I think the one who are more mainstream and on TV and that have been doing it for a really long time have gained the respect in the comedy world. For other Asian comics, you are automatically compared to the other ones just by looks. People should close their eyes and hear differences before they compare by looks.

What’s your best dance move? Which do you think is done more often: the Ocho-Ocho or the Electric Slide?
My best dance move is the robot! Most people know the Electric slide and it’s the same all the time. I’ve seen variations of the Ocho-Ocho.

Who are some comedians that inspired you?
Growing up: Howie Mandel, Steven Wright, George Carlin.

Currently: Nick Swardson, Demetri Martin, Jo Koy & Aries Spears

Are you currently working on anything?
I’m getting into acting and going on auditions now. Getting ready to do more college shows too and festivals. I’m also looking into getting into sketch.

Do you prefer dogs, cats, or other?
At first I thought it said...otters...I’m like who has an otter? Cool! But I like dogs. Cats are snotty!

What’s the worse job you never want to go back to?
I worked at KEY FOOD...my job was collecting shopping carts in the parking lot. Was the most boring job ever! So bored that I would stalk shoppers and grab their carts...even when they weren’t finished loading.

What kind of music is on your iPod?
I know this is unbelievable, but I don’t have an iPod...wanna buy me one? But I listen to mostly everything...from Hip Hop/R&B to Rock & Metal...everything except Country...I’ve tried...honestly.

Thanks again for letting me grill you with all my questions; do you have any famous last words you want to leave your fans?
If there is something you always wanted to do or try or experience...GO FOR IT...don’t sit on it. Life passes fast. So whether if you want to show your special talent...or whether its asking that special guy or girl out...or whether its trying sky diving....GO FOR IT...what’s the worst that can happen?

Okay maybe for skydiving something can go really bad.

Thanks for all the questions!
