» Album Review: "Ballad Nerd Pop" by Paperdoll |
|
Apr 29, 2008 - 3:44 PM - by aarisings

When I reviewed Paperdoll's self-titled EP last year I knew they were a band to keep an eye and ear out for. Now they've released their full album titled Ballad Nerd Pop and it meets all of my expectations and then some. |
Apr 17, 2008 - 9:03 AM - by aarisings
|
East West is a band that was formed only a few years ago by founder Reiko Obata. East West can be best described as jazz fusion mixing elements of Japanese Koto with instruments of a standard 5 piece jazz band. Their current self-titled album contains 10 tracks, some which are originals and some which are jazz standards. Featuring the core 5 members, they also add some guest musicians as well. Stylistically, this isn't the jazz fusion with an Asian twist you might be used to - the most notable example being the band Hiroshima. East West differs by adding into other musical influences from Flamenco and Brazilian rhythms giving the songs a strong Latin/Worldbeat flavor. ... [Read More]
