» In Relation to Banana |

In the midst of writing a romantic comedy screenplay while lying in bed, my mind caught onto a hook for the main love interest who’s suspicious of the other lead character’s ability to write his family story. Both of the characters are Asian, but the writer is called out for being white-washed that inhibits his relation to being Asian (yes, they are both male). He is accused for “doing it for the Man” and “seeking his approval.” It brought me (while I had a change of venue to the restroom [why is it that those are the best locales to write?] to think about some of the sentiments that were enunciated at Banana, a conference of API bloggers back in November.
Let me first state that any time APIs convene, any time APIs voice themselves, any time APIs rally together and attempt to... [Read More]

I actually couldn’t tell if there were two children because I’d see little people whizz by me throughout the night. Equally as gorgeous was Mark Dacascos. I’m partial to my Kanaka Maolis and Kamaainas. He’s two years older than me but looks at least 10 years younger. I didn’t see Soiree host ... [Read More]

Don't call me a hypochondriac when I tell you that I suffer from Verbal Apraxia. The summer after I started competing on the speech team in high school, I returned with a marked occasional stutter and a slowness in finding the words I wanted. I thought it was always that my brain worked faster than my mouth, but I realized that even when I was thinking about talking, I would mix the order of the words, and I would have to exert enormous concentration to make a cohesive sentence. This caused no problem with having a big mouth however even though, especially when I got emotional, I would sound somewhat illiterate.
At a recent experience at Banana, a conference of API bloggers, the panel was accosted by an audience member who chose to act as the aggressor and accuse all APIs of not admitting their privilege above other... [Read More]
